The next question on most people’s minds is, where shall we stay? Fortunately, there’s no shortage of options here in the Napa Valley. But, keep in mind, that autumn is the busiest time of the year here (and the most beautiful) and places will fill up quickly. Don’t set yourself up disappointment, make your reservations now.
For the budget-minded there’s a very good option up at Pacific Union College (PUC), which is a 10 – 15 minute drive away, up in the eastern hills. The college rents rooms in its residence halls to “guests.” PUC is a Seventh Day Adventist college so it is important to note that smoking and alcohol are not allowed anywhere on the campus. But, if you can live within those parameters, and honor the traditions of the school, there are some great deals to be had, starting at about $71/night for single occupancy. Click here for more information.
Another great option is any of the “spas” up in Calistoga, again, no more than a 15-minute drive away. . . . .and what a beautiful drive it is! The Calistoga Village Inn and Spa has great rates, starting at $100 for a double, up to $135 for a room with a sitting room and jacuzzi or sunken Roman tub. They also have three naturally-heated mineral pools and you can even add a massage to your stay. Click here for other great options in Calistoga.
OK. This is not a joke. The local hospital, St. Helena Center for Health, also has lodging available at Vineyard Vista Inn, right on the hospital grounds. It’s just 10 minutes away, the view is spectacular, and the rooms are just $149 a night. But here’s the catch. They don’t release the rooms up until about 2 weeks before the date you want them. So, this could be a good option if you have left it to the last minute.
Luxurious accommodations in American Canyon, less than 45 beautiful minutes from the heart of the action in St. Helena, with a special rate for festival goers of $89/night plus tax (single or double occupancy). Be sure to ask for the Ukulele Rate. In addition there’s a full-on spa and a wonderful restaurant serving local organic foods. Mention the ‘ukulele festival and get a 10% discount on spa services (15% if you’re staying at the hotel).
